Description of the genus

Herbs. Leaves alternate. Capitula solitary at apex of stems and branches, heterogamous, radiate. Phyllaries connate into an obconic (in ours) involucre; free parts of bracts in several series. Receptacle honeycombed. Ray and disk florets yellow. Achenes villous. Pappus scales in 2 series, or by abortion, in 1 series

Worldwide: 12 species in tropical and South Africa

Malawi: 3 taxa.
