Tree with terete branches and alternate serrulate leaves. Flowers in solitary or paired axillary few- or many-flowered cymes. Bracteoles 2 or 0. Sepals 5, connate in the lower third, persistent, petals 5, alternating with the sepals, connate in the lower third to form a corolla, eventually deciduous. Fruit a 5-valved capsule, hemispherical, woody, many-seeded. Seeds small, irregularly compressed-ovoid. Malawi: 1 taxon. |
