Description:
Bushy scrambling herb, sometimes attaining 2 m. Leaves ovate or narrowly ovate with a drip-tip. Flowers 2-lipped; lower lip white with raised purple palate at the front, brown in colour at the back. Capsule brown.
Notes: This species was formerly treated as endemic to Mt Mulanje but it is now considered conspecific with the former Isoglossa mossambicensis found on Mt Gorongosa and the border mountains of Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Derivation of specific name: milanjiensis: of Mt Mulanje, Malawi.
Habitat: In and at the edges of evergreen forest, sometimes on streambanks in full sun.
