Description of the genus

Shrub or tree with white latex. Branchlets dotted with paler lenticels. Leaves opposite, long-petiolate. Inflorescence thyrsoid, terminal and in upper axils; bracts obscure. Flowers actinomorphic (except for sometimes unequal sepals). Sepals ovate, acute. Corolla salver-shaped; tube ± cylindric, weakly gibbous in upper half and constricted at mouth; lobes overlapping to the left. Stamens inserted near middle of corolla tube. Ovary of 2 basally connate carpels. Fruit composed of two obliquely oblong follicles; outside dotted with paler lenticels. Seeds laterally flattened, obliquely oblong, long-winged at apex.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical and South Africa

Malawi: 1 taxon.
