Description of the genus

Shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite. Flowers in axillary cymes. Calyx lobes 5, erect. Corolla tube cylindric; lobes linear-lanceolate, reflexed. Ovary 2-locular; stigmatic club cylindric. Fruit rounded or flattened, with 2 pyrenes.

Worldwide: 4 species in tropical Africa

Malawi: 1 taxon.
