Description of the genus

Dioecious climbing perennials. Leaves simple, petiolate. Tendrils apically 2-fid. Flowers small, greenish-yellow. Male flowers in lax panicle-like fascicles; petals 5; stamen 1; thecae ring-like. Females flowers in few-flowered axillary fascicles; styles 3. Fruit flattened, winged, with 1 seed.

Worldwide: 3 species in Africa and Madagascar

Malawi: 1 taxon.
