Description of the genus

Aromatic annual herb; stems without resin ducts. Leaves alternate, dentate, slightly auriculate but not decurrent. Capitula disciform in lax corymbs; flowers mauve. Receptacle without scales. Outer florets female, filifom, 3-toothed; inner florets bisexual, 5-lobed. Anthers with long distinct tails. Style 2-fid; branches with obtuse sweeping hairs reaching below the fork. Achenes cylindric, hairy, without resin ducts. Pappus of free barbellate bristles; each bristle with appressed teeth.

Worldwide: 1 species, a pantropical weed.

Malawi: 1 taxon.
