Orthochilus Hochst. ex A. Rich.

Martos, F., Johnson, S.D., Peter, C.I & Bytebier, B. (2014) A molecular phylogeny reveals paraphyly of the large genus Eulophia (Orchidaceae): A case for the reinstatement of Orthochilus Taxon 63(1) 9-23

Description of the genus

Comment: Recent phylogenetic research established that the large genus Eulophia needed to be split in two to obtain a monophyletic status. Since the oldest available name within the newly separated group was Orthochilus this name has been reinstated.

Worldwide: 35 species in Subsaharan Africa, Madagascar, tropical and subtropical America.

Malawi: 10 taxa.
