Evergreen trees. Leaves spirally arranged, simple, subcoriaceous, margins entire. Flowers axillary. Sepals 5–7. Petals 7–10 in the African species, opposite the sepals or irregularly disposed. Fruit indehiscent. Seeds ellipsoid, with a thick testa. Worldwide: c. 90 species in tropical and subtropical regions in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Malawi: 1 taxon. |
