Description of the genus

Trees, shrubs or suffrutices; evergreen, leaves paripinnate; leaflets sessile, subequal, asymmetric; flowers in terminal and axillary racemes, bracteoles petaloid, conspicuous white or pink; pod compressed, thin woody, glabrous, the upper suture slightly winged.

Worldwide: 11 species in tropical Africa, 2 species in the Flora Zambesiaca region, 2 species in Zambia.

Malawi: 2 taxa.
