Description: |
Perennial, up to 135 cm tall but usually less, growing from a short woody rhizome. Leaves few, up to 50 cm long with sheaths 3.5-17 cm long, brown or purple; lamina linear, flat, 22-33 cm long, scabrid on margins and main vein. Involucral bracts 5-8, spreading, lowest 27-48 cm long. Inflorescence twice-spicate with 4-8 primary branches branches, 2.5-6 cm long; spikelets 30-80 per spike, golden yellow to brown, sometimes with purplish streaks. |
