Description: |
Plants small, 5–15 cm high. Corms 10–12 mm in diameter at the base, dark-brown. Foliage leaves 3–7, the lower 2–4 clustered at the stem base and ascending, or more or less spreading, the lowermost longest and exceeding the inflorescence, the upper leaves decreasing in size, usually channelled to above the middle and broader towards the base. Stems irregular and somewhat contorted, branched, 3–4-angled. Inflorescence a congested pseudopanicle with ultimate branches 2–4-flowered; outer bracts 4–5 mm long, green, often purple-flushed, inner bracts as long as the outer or slightly shorter, apices dry, recurved. Flowers blue to violet, the lower tepals each with a white and dark-blue mark in the lower midline; perianth tube 8–10 mm long, slender, expanded and curved in the upper 1.5 mm; tepals narrowly lanceolate, 7–9 mm long, spreading at right angles to the tube. Capsules c. 2 mm long. |
