Description:
Perennial herb with a thick woody caudex with tufted stems arising from the crown. Bracts relatively broad (1-2 mm wide), lanceolate often with minutely scaberulous margins, usually adnate to entire length of the pedicel, rarely only to lower half. Flowers usually solitary in the axil of each bract, c. 7-13 racemosely arranged. Perianth lobes with apical beard. Fruits pale with strongly raised ribs but less strongly raised reticulations.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: goetzeanum: after Walter Goetze (1872-1899), German naturalist, explorer, photographer and collector of botanical and zoological specimens in Tanzania.
Habitat: Grassland and open grassland in a variety of soils including serpentine
