Description:
Scrambling shrub or liane, rarely a small tree. Bark grey, smooth, with lenticels; young branchlets with short rusty hairs, hairless when older. Leaves elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate, up to c. 12 × 6 cm, leathery, greyish-green and hairless above, brighter green below, sometimes with a few hairs along the prominent veins on both surfaces; margin entire. Flowers in 1-3-flowered terminal or leaf-opposed clusters, yellowish-green or dull green, 1.5 - 3 cm in diameter, fleshy. Fruit of 10-20 more or less cylindrical carpels, c. 2.5 cm long, usually several-seeded dark to orange-brown, finely hairy.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: lucida: shining, probably referring to the leaves
Habitat: Occurring in forest and dense thickets.
