Description:
Erect perennial herb, unbranched for most of its length. Leaves sessile, sharply pointed with gland-like stipules near the base. Flowers terminal in branched inflorescences, bright yellow. Bud often with a reddish tinge.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: thunbergii: named after Carl Peter Thunberg (1743-1828)
Habitat: In moist grassland and margins of vleis.
Altitude range: 1500 - 2150 m
Flowering time:Sep - Mar
Worldwide distribution: Angola, Zambia, Southern Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Southern Cape, South Africa.
