Description: |
Shrub or small tree. Bark dark grey to almost black, rather smooth; young branches reddish-brown to grey with conspicuous lenticels. Leaves subopposite, sometimes also alternate, elliptic, oblong or obovate, 3.5-12.5 cm long, glossy grey-green to dark above, paler green beneath, thick and leathery; apex variable and sometimes notched; margin hardened with stiff and sharp glandular teeth; petiole 2-15 mm long. Flowers in short, dense, axillary heads, small, whitish. Fruit ellipsoid to subglobose, 12-22 mm long, smooth, white to dark red or brown when dry. |
