Description:
|
Tufted perennial herb with prostrate, ascending to suberect stems, usually less than c. 30 cm long. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate to subsessile, ovate, elliptic-oblong or slightly obovate, up to 26 × 17 mm, with prominent translucent gland dots; apex rounded; margin entire. Flowers c. 1.5-2 cm in diameter, in terminal clusters, rarely solitary; sepals elliptic, obovate or oblong, obtuse, unequal, the inner ones usually much smaller, with translucent and dark gland dots; petals yellow, often tinged with red with dark gland dots on margins only; stamens numerous; styles usually 5, rarely 4, and ovary 4-5- locular. Fruit fleshy, subspherical or broadly ovoid. |
