Description: |
Shrub or small evergreen tree. Leaves, spirally arranged, subopposite or whorled, usually at the ends of branches obovate to linear-oblanceolate, 3-12 cm long, leathery, glossy light green above, dull and paler below, hairless; margin entire often thickened. Flowers unisexual,usually on different trees, in axillary inflorescences, small, creamy-white, speckled with brownish glands, sweetly scented. Male flowers on longer pedicels forming a more lax inflorescence. Fruit subspherical, c. 8 mm in diameter, red to purplish, with scattered white hairs. |
