Description:
Aromatic perennial herb or subshrub. Stems 1-many, erect or ascending, 15-100 cm long, with recurved hairs. Leaves opposite, ovate, rarely elliptic with prominent veins below; margins crenate-dentate. Inflorescence a lax panicle. Flowers often one-sided on the lateral inflorescence branches. Bracts elliptic, lanceolate or linear, up to 3.5 mm long. Corolla white or pale violet; upper lip subequally 4-lobed with vertical rows of dark violet spots; lower lip boat-shaped, often darker towards the apex.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: rehmannii: named for Anton Rehmann, 1840-1917, Polish botanist and collector
Habitat: In shallow soil pockets on rocks.
Altitude range: 200 - 1700 m
Flowering time:
Worldwide distribution: Western Angola and Namibia in the West; eastern Zambia, southern Tanzania to South Africa in the East.
