Description:
Prostrate or creeping annual herb. Stems much branched, up to 25 cm long, with soft spreading hairs. Leaves broadly ovate, triangular or almost round with long hairs on both surfaces; margin coarsely toothed. Flowers solitary, axillary, white to pale mauve with purple and yellow spots in the throat; corolla with a curved spur c. 6 mm long; upper lip small 2-lobed; lower lip large with 3 spreading lobes, mid-lobe largest.

Derivation of specific name: tenella: very soft, tender
Habitat: In the shelter of overhanging rocks and at the entrances of caves, both in grassland and forest
