Description: |
Erect, annual or biennial herb, 10-50 cm tall. Stems with stiffly erect, simple branches, more or less pubescent to densely covered in short rough hairs. Leaves (sub)opposite but alternate above, linear to linear-lanceolate, 10-20 mm long, finely pubescentn; margin entire. Flowers alternate solitary in the axils, together sometimes, forming long, lax spikes. Lower bracts leaf-like, the upper linear. Calyx tubular, 10-12 mm long, prominently 15-ribbed, 5-toothed, finely pubescent; teeth linear-lanceolate, 3-5 mm long, elongating in fruit. Corolla white or cream with a greenish tube, pubescent outside; tube 10-15 mm long, abruptly curved just above the calyx teeth and inflated above; lower lobes obovate 6-8 mm long and c. 5 mm wide, rounded. Capsule ovoid, 4-5 mm long, pointed at the apex. |
