Description:
Perennial climber, stems becoming woody when old. Leaves ovate to reniform, cordate, semi-succulent, sometimes shallowly 3-5 lobed. Inflorescences axillary, unisexual, male flowers in many-flowered inflorescences, female inflorescences few-flowered, greenish-yellow. Fruit oblong, leathery, flattened, winged, brownish when ripe.
Notes: A very striking and unusual species; the fruits not immediately suggesting Cucurbitaceae.
Derivation of specific name: parviflora: small-flowered
Habitat: In hot deciduous woodland and thickets.
Altitude range: 200 - 900 m
