Description:	Wiry, much-branched, more or less erect perennial herb, up to 70 cm. Leaves few, small and scale-like, scattered along the stem. Flowers white, sometimes pale blue, tinged purplish or yellowish; corolla lobed for about 2/3 of the length.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	virgata: twiggy, with straight, slender twigs
Habitat:	In grassland and on roadsides, particularly on patches of bare or eroded soil.
