Description:
|
Slender perennial herb with annual stems up to 1 m tall. Leaves sessile, discolorous; lower leaves often clustered near the base of the stem, oblanceolate, 12-27 cm long, green and hairless above, densely white felted beneath, midrib prominent, whitish, other veining obscured by the felt-like hairs; margin sparsely and finely toothed; leaves higher on the stem smaller and often linear, clasping the stems at the base. Capitula few to many, mostly sessile, 1-2 in the upper leaf axils, others clustered near the apex of the stem. Involucres broadly obconic, mostly 2-3 cm long, spreading. Bracts numerous, lanceolate and sharp-tipped, 6-30 mm long, greenish to straw-coloured with a pale membranous wing in the lower part, mostly divergent ascending, outer ones spreading or reflexed. Corollas yellowish, c. 10 mm long. |
