Description:
Annual herb with unbranched ascending stems up to 55 cm high, often rooting at the lower nodes. Leaves more or less ovate in outline, 7-14 cm long, mostly with 5 pointed lobes, cordate at the base, green, hairless or sparsely hispid above, hairless and darker green or reddish beneath; margin shallowly and irregularly toothed; petiole 8-23 cm long; stipules linear up to 20 mm long. Flowers in axillary heads on peduncles 15-30 mm long, unisexual, pale pink. Fruit ellipsoid, 20-30 mm long, not winged, crowned by the long stipe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: oxyloba: with sharp(-ly pointed) lobes.
Habitat: Mostly near waterfalls or forest streams.
