Description:

Shrub or small tree with soft-wooded, hairless branches. Leaves compound, mostly 2-pinnate, sometimes 3-pinnate at the base; rhachis with reddish swellings at the insertion of the pinnae; pinnae up to 5, imparipinnate mostly with 3-5 leaflets; leaflets elliptic, pointed at the apex, 4-20 cm long, hairless or pubescent on the veins beneath, somewhat discolorous; margin toothed; petiole c. 12 cm long. Inflorescences usually 2-branched up to 20 cm in diameter; branches reddish. Flowers globose in bud, 2-5 mm in diameter, red outside, orange or yellowish inside. Fruit up to 8 mm in diameter, hairless with a persistent calyx, red turning black when ripe. |
