Description:
A hairless evergreen tree or shrub, up to about 15 m (but up to 21 m in West Africa), much branched, erect or more or less trailing; branches longitudinally grooved. Leaves opposite, stipules absent. Flowers in fascicles of 5-30 in the leaf axils and on old wood. Berry globose 1-2.5 cm in diameter, yellow when ripe.
