Description:
Terrestrial herb 23–53 cm tall, growing from 2 ovoid, hairy tubers, up to 3.5 cm long. Leaves 2, appressed to ground, one larger than the other, fleshy, heart-shaped to kidney-shaped, up to 7 cm long and up to 8.5 cm wide, glossy pale green, sparsely hairy. Flowering stem densely hairy, with several bract-like leaves c. 7 mm long. Inflorescence 6–16 cm long, laxly to fairly densely 6 to many-flowered, flowers more or less towards one side; bracts 4–8 mm long, hairy. Flowers white with green sepals, strongly and sweetly scented. Sepals ovate, 6–9 mm long, hairy. Petals 16–35 mm long, deeply divided into 9 slender tapering lobes. Lip similar, 9–11-lobed. Spur conical, 3–4 mm long, tightly incurled.

Habitat: In open Brachystegia woodland, rock crevices and montane grassland overlying rock or on seepage slopes.
