Description:
Annual herb, up to 1 m high; stems pubescent with rerorse or spreading hairs and sessile glands, becoming purplish and more densely hairy and glandular towards the inflorescence. Leaves spreading, ovate, 12-70 mm long, sparsely pubescent, mainly on the veins beneath; margin more or less fainly toothed and weakly rolled under; petiole 10-80 mm long. Inflorescence branched or unbranched, with 2-6-flowered clusters, up to 10 mm apart. Calyx spreading, 1-2 mm long, densely hairy and with sessile glands. Corolla white to pale mauve-blue with daker purple lines, 7-15 mm long; lower lip slightly longer than upper, deeply boat-shaped, enclosing the stamens.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: masukensis: of the Masuku Plateau (now known as the Misuku Hills), where the type specimen was collected.
Habitat: In grassland, clearings woodland and disturbed areas.
Altitude range: 1300 - 1920 m
