Description: |
Perennial herb forming cushions to 1 m in diameter, with flowering stems to 10(–20) cm high; rhizome woody and branched; stems prostrate, branched, covered in leaf sheaths, densely leafy. Leaves discolorous and silvery-grey beneath, sessile, linear, 1–3(–4) cm long, 0.1–0.3 cm wide, base half-amplexicaul and sheathing for afew mm, apex acute and mucronate, glabrous above with 3–5 clear parallel veins, silvery tomentose beneath. Capitula 3.5–6 mm long, heterogamous, 10–20(–30) together in terminal subglobose corymbs. Florets yellow, 40–50; outer florets 6–7, filiform, tube 2.3–2.5 mm long, lobes 0.4–0.5 mm long, style 2.5–3 mm long; inner florets 35–44, tube narrowly infundibuliform, 2.5–3 mm long, lobes 0.5–0.7 mm long, sparsely glandular, anthers ± 1.2 mm long, style 3–4 mm long. Achenes cylindrical, 0.5–0.9 mm long, glabrous; pappus white, 2–2.5 mm long, caducous in groups. |
