Robust epiphytic or lithophytic herb. Leaves 2-6, oblong-ligulate, grey-green, succulent; sometimes deciduous in dry areas. Inflorescences several, up to 40 cm, 10-14-flowered. Flowers white, turning pale apricot when old. Spur 12-20 cm.
Derivation of specific name: verdickii: named after Edgard Antoine Auguste Verdick, Belgian-born plant collector in Katanga.
Habitat: In open woodland, often in hot and drier areas.
Altitude range: Up to 1800 m
Flowering time:Nov - Jan
Worldwide distribution: Angola, DRC, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Growth form(s): Epiphyte.
