Common names: Heath violet-bush (English)
Status: Native
Shrub or small tree. Bark pale grey to brown, smooth. Leaves alternate, oblong to elliptic, 4-7 cm long, dark shiny green, hairs along the main veins only; margin conspicuously toothed; petiole 2-4 mm long, grooved along the top. Flowers in axillary spike-like heads, greenish-white to cream, petals often curved backwards, sweetly scented. Fruit a 3-sided ovoid capsule 1-1.5 cm long, yellowish-green, splitting into 3 valves.
Derivation of specific name: convallarioides: (scented) like a Convallaria or Lily-of-the-valley (Convallariaceae).
Habitat: In the understorey of lowland forest.
