Description:
Perennial often somewhat shrubby climber. Stems twining, 4-winged or 4-angled on smaller branches, almost hairless. Leaves up to 8 × 10 cm, cordate at the base, palmately 3-7-lobed to the middle of the lamina or more; lobes elliptic, ovate or oblong, more or less mucronate at the apices; petiole up to 8.5 cm long, more or less widely winged. Flowers in few-flowered inflorescences or rarely solitary; peduncle up to 12 cm long, winged; pedicels up to 3 cm long. Sepals ovate-oblong, up to 10 mm long, obtuse at the apex, becoming broadly ovate to circular and spreading in fruit. Corolla broadly funnel-shaped, c. 3.5 cm long, pale yellow, cream or white with a red or purple throat. Capsule ovoid-conical, flattened-depressed at the apex, crowned with the persistent style-base, hairless, brown.

Habitat: Forest, mixed woodland, grassland and along roadsides, often on sandy and alluvial soils.
