Description:
Perennial climber with stems up to 3 m long, covered with long appressed yellowish-brown bristly hairs. Leaves broadly ovate-cordate, up to 15 cm long, entire, shallowly lobed or with triangular lobe-like teeth up to 1 × 2 cm, woolly hairy on both surfaces; petiole up to 12 cm long, bristly hairy. Inflorescences in dense many-flowered axillary clusters; pedicels up to 2 cm long. Calyx with long yellowish hairs. Corolla white, up to 1.8 cm long and up to 3 cm in diameter; tube urn-shaped, narrowing toward the top before spreading in to the limb. Fruit an ovoid-globose capsule, covered in long bristly hairs except for the upper part.

Notes:
Derivation of specific name: owariensis: from the Oware region in West Africa (modern-day Nigeria).
Habitat: Woodland and thickets, riverine forest, along edges of cultivation.
