Description:
Erect branched annual or short-lived perennial, 0.3–2 m tall; branches generally with short appressed hairs. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets oblanceolate to oblong-elliptic, mostly 8–20 mm long, more or less shortly appressed hairy beneath, usually hairless above; petiole 3–15 mm long; stipules absent. Inflorescences in 8–40-flowered racemes, 3–15 cm long, sometimes a few flowers also in the axils; bracts 1–2 mm long. Calyx 4–6 mm long, appressed pubescent; upper lobes triangular, 1.5–2.5 times as long as the tube. Standard elliptic, yellow, lined or flushed reddish, apically pubescent outside; wings shorter than the keel; keel 9–12 mm long, angular, with a narrow twisted beak slightly incurved at the tip. Pods sessile, obliquely inserted, shortly cylindrical when ripe, 7–8 mm long, appressed pubescent.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: argyrolobioides: like an Argyrolobium.
Habitat: Montane grassland and scrub along forest margins, also higher rainfall miombo woodland and in riverine vegetation.
Altitude range: 1350 - 2200 m

Worldwide distribution: Katanga DRC, southern Tanzania, northern Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia.
