Description:
Plants 30–60 cm high, growing from corms 20–35 mm in diameter; tunics brownish, more or less leathery or fibrous. Foliage leaves 2–3, entirely sheathing or with short occasionally narrowly lanceolate blades 1–12 cm long; margins and midribs hyaline and usually slightly thickened. Stem erect, unbranched. Spike 2–8-flowered; bracts 18–25 mm long, the inner somewhat shorter than the outer and apically bifid. Flowers white to cream, pale yellowish, mauve, pink or pale orange, lacking contrasting markings on the lower tepals; perianth tube 7–8 mm long; tepals nearly equal, 20–25 mm long, directed forwards and weakly curving outward. Filaments 4–5 mm long, usually included in the perianth tube. Capsules globose, 10–12 mm long.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: muenzneri: named after Max Münzner, German botanist who participated in the Fromm Expedition to western Tanzania in 1908.
Habitat: In deciduous woodland and submontane grassland.
Altitude range: 1200 - 1 m
