Terrestrial saprophytic herb arising from a fleshy rhizome, 6-100 cm tall, turning brown on drying, Leaves absent. Inflorescence few- to many-flowered; scape with 2-3 tubular sheaths at base and 2-4 lanceolate bracts above. Sepals and petals white, dull yellow or buff; lip deep yellow with 2 purple marks at the base and red or purple hairs on the side lobes. Sepals 15-25 mm long. Petals oblong-spathulate. Lip with 3-4 fleshy ridges at the base, papillate all over but lacking long papillae; spur 4-5 mm long, upcurved at tip. Capsules pendent. |
