Description:
Slender terrestrial, less than 40cm. Leaves along the stem, linear lanceolate. Largest leaves near the base, up to 15 cm, folded along the length. Inflorescence lax, many-flowered. Flowers white to pale pink with darker markings. The flowers contrasting with the deep reddish purple ovaries, pedicels and bracts.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: saxicola: of rocky places
Habitat: Among rocks and crevices in montane grassland.
Altitude range: 1600 - 2400 m
Flowering time:Jan - Mar
Worldwide distribution: Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Lesotho and South Africa.
